Must Visit Exhibition: Fashion Cities Africa

Fashion Cities Africa, Brighton Museum & Art Gallery

30th April 2016 - 8 January 2017
Celebrating fashion scenes and styles from four cities, Casablanca, Johannesburg, Nairobi and Lagos, this exhibition is the first ever of its kind to be held in Brighton Museum, dedicated to contemporary African fashion. Featuring fashion from couture to street style alongside images, film and sound and told through words, garments and social media this ground breaking exhibition has set to explore the global influence and diversity that African fashion has on the world.

Developed with African fashion specialists, this exhibition features some of the most exciting names and labels in African Fashion. With runaway looks from the driving force behind Nigeria’s fashion industry; Lagos Fashion and Design Week to enduring traditional fashion brands such as Deola Sagoe demonstrating her patented local lace hand cutting method, to the funky and edgy outfits worn by the popular Kenyan band, Sauti Sol, this exhibition seeks to provide a snapshot of fashion practices in these four major cities.

Check out the Fashion Cities Africa running until 8th January 2017. For more information visit: Brighton Museum for opening times and admission.
